Do I need a username and password?

No, you do not need a username or password. We use advanced e-commerce technology which does not require you to remember usernames and passwords.

Click on My Account and enter your email address and we will instantly email you a 6-digit code. Simply enter the code and you will be logged in to your personal account. This is how you login in the future, too.

What are your business hours?

David is available on the phone Tuesday through Friday from 10AM to 4PM. You can call David toll-free from anywhere in Canada/USA at 855-852-4559.

You can contact David using our online Contact Form any time 24/7. David will usually be able to respond to you within an hour or two, however, it can take more time if he is busy.

What types of products does Vertolli Jewellers carry?

Vertolli Jewellers specializes in selling verified authentic vintage jewellery made only of genuine, solid precious metals (i.e. gold, silver, platinum, etc). Vertolli Jewellers deals exclusively in authentic, natural diamonds. We never sell 'cultured diamonds', also known as 'lab-grown' or 'man-made' diamonds. From time to time we do sell synthetic gemstones (such as ruby or emerald), and they are clearly labeled as synthetic. All other gemstones on our website are authentic natural stones.

What types of services does Vertolli Jewellers offer?

We offer watch and clock repair services. Our watch repair services are flat-rate and available by mail order with free shipping. You can learn more about our watch repair packages here.

Our clock repair services are offered within a 50km radius of Barrie, Ontario only, due to the sheer size of most clocks. David offers free house calls and estimates. If you live within 50km of Barrie, click here to learn more about our David's clock repair service.

Is your website secure?

Yes, the Vertolli Jewellers website is certified Level 1 PCI DSS compliant.

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is backed by VISA, MasterCard Worldwide, American Express, Discover Financial Services and JCB International, and was adopted by the Payment Card Industry Council in 2005 with the aim of protecting card holder data used during online payments.

Do you have a physical retail store?

David operated his retail store in Downtown Barrie, Ontario for 25 years. An armed robbery at the store was a little too traumatic for a gentle person like David, and since his website business was booming he decided to close the retail store in 2020 and focus exclusively on his online operations, and perform work in a private, secure workshop. David's vintage jewellery and watch repair packages are available online exclusively.

David is available for clock repair by appointment only. Please contact him to set up a house call. You can purchase from his website 7 days a week and we have a no-hassle returns policy.

Who does your jewellery photography?

We make our own photographs in-house on a Nikon Micro tent platform designed by a renowned Canadian photographer.

What does fourteen karat gold (14K) actually mean?

The karat amount tells you how pure the gold is.

  • 24K gold is practically pure gold
  • 18K gold is 75% pure gold, 25% other metals
  • 14K gold is 58% pure gold, 42% other metals
  • 10K gold is 42% pure gold, 58% other metals

Can your vintage rings be custom sized?

Most rings can be sized. If a ring cannot be sized we will indicate as such in the item's description.

Vertolli Jewellers does not provide sizing service. Head to the nearest jewelry store to have your finger measured in person and your vintage ring sized correctly.

Does your jewellery come with an appraisal report?

Our vintage jewellery undergoes professional appraisal for insurance purposes by an unbiased third-party, and you receive the full appraisal package with your purchase.

Should I have the claws holding the diamond in my ring checked?

Yes, have your diamond ring checked by your local jeweller once per year. Regular wear and tear can cause some stones to come loose and actually fall out.

What is the warranty on vintage jewellery?

We provide a 1-year warranty on all vintage jewellery.

How is white gold different from yellow gold?

At the refinery, nickel is added to molten yellow gold which gives it the white colour.

White gold is an extremely hard and durable metal, which is why most diamond rings are set in white gold. The chances of your diamond working its way loose and falling out are lower with white gold than with yellow gold, since yellow gold is much softer naturally.

How do they make rose gold?

At the refinery, copper is added to molten yellow gold, which gives rose gold its pink colour.

How long will it take for my jewellery to arrive?

Most addresses in Canada will receive their package in 1-2 days.

A small percentage of addresses that require extra time due to their rural location will receive their package in 3-5 days.

Does Vertolli Jewellers ship internationally?

Currently, Vertolli Jewellers only accepts online jewellery orders from Canada and Mainland USA, and watch repair orders from Canada only. If you are located outside Canada or the USA Mainland and wish to purchase jewelry, please contact us to discuss and we can make alternate payment arrangements.

What shipping services does Vertolli Jewellers use?

For shipping jewelry, we use Canada Post XpressPost or UPS services. These services provide fast and reliable shipping with tracking, insurance, delivery confirmation, and signature required. For shipping watches, we provide a free shipping container for you to securely send your watch to us for repair.

Are there any additional fees for international shipments?

Any shipments made outside of Canada may be subject to duties, national taxes, and/or brokerage fees. Please be aware that customers are solely responsible for any of these additional charges, if applicable. We do not collect tax on orders delivered outside of Canada. We default to using XpressPost USA shipping for our American customers since there are no 'brokerage fees' involved.

Is it true that all jewellery ships for free in the US & Canada?

Yes. All jewellery ships free to the US and Canada via Xpresspost. All packages come with $100 insurance. Additional insurance $2.75 per $100 coverage.

I live in Canada. Do you collect tax on my order?

Yes. We collect tax based on the province/territory that your order is shipped to.

I live in the US. Do you collect tax on my order?

No. We do not collect any kind of tax, duty or tariff on shipments to the US. You are responsible for any additional charges, taxes, duties or tariffs your government may apply to your package at the border. We ship Xpresspost USA so there's no brokerage fees due on delivery of your package.

What is Vertolli Jewellers' return policy?

How do I make a return?

To return an item do the following:

  1. Login to your customer account here
  2. Select the order that has the item you wish to return.
  3. Click the Request Return button at the top right of the order page.
  4. Put a check mark beside the item you wish to return.
  5. Click the Request Return button to finalize.

That's all you have to do. We will assess your return request and email you a return shipping label, which you can print out and stick to the shipping box.

How long does it take to receive a refund?

You will be refunded the full amount on your original payment method within 10 business days (delay due to fraud protection systems in effect).

Please note that it may take some additional time for your bank or credit card company to process and actually post your refund. This usually takes 1-5 business days.

What should I do if I receive a defective or damaged item?

We use heavy-duty shipping boxes and plenty of protective packing material to virtually eliminate transit damage.

In the event that you receive a defective, damaged, or incorrect item, rest assured that we will promptly address the issue. Please carefully inspect your item upon receipt and inform us of any issues requiring our attention. We will make it right in any case.

Does Vertolli Jewellers offer exchanges?

The fastest way to ensure you get the item you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
